Authoritize provides a range of services for authors who want to achieve global awareness for their books and public speaking. We provide the full range of services that a literary agents would have provided, but a lot more besides.

In this highly competitive field, we help our authors to fine-tune their offering in the marketplace, and to create a range of products, including books, for which there is a clear demand. We represent our authors to a wide range of publishers, channels, and content providers and seek to achieve rights sales for them.

We provide author mentoring, and commercial coaching to develop  a plan; a strategy and a business model to maximise the potential of your intellectual property.

We help our authors to tap into global distribution and the book trade supply chain to ensure your book can be easily found and purchased in a couple of clicks from anywhere in the world.

We subscribe to a global database of journalists, media and channels in 204 different countries which enables us to distribute your press releases in a very targeted manner.

We attend the major book fairs around the world such as London Book Fair, Frankfurt, Beijing, Boulogne and the USA.  This is where we speak directly to the commissioning editors and promote your book and translation rights sales.

Whether you are looking for a publisher or a film-maker, you need an effective pitch to get their attention. Authoritize provides a Book Pitch Service to ‘sell the sizzle’ and open the doors you want.

Through our cloud-based project management system, you can remain in charge of your project wherever you are in the world.  Your team and ours will communicate through the system to ensure that there is no duplicated effort, and that we all work together to achieve the end result.

 

Your Personal Brand – Creating Awareness

You are your brand.  People buy people first, before they buy anything else.  For your book to be a success, we need to help to further raise your profile and attract a larger following for you, worldwide.

We have a strategic partnership with Helen Lewis and her dedicated team at Literally PR who support many of our authors with both PR and social media campaigns.  They would work alongside our in-house PR team to create a bespoke campaign based on your requirements.

The extent and duration of your campaign depends on how quickly and efficiently we both reach our goals in building you up. This is something which we will be closer to predicting once the book is out and following your launch.

 

Power Interviews / Transcribing / Ghost writing

A fast way of creating your book manuscript Speak your Story at the Speed of Thought. We interview you, record your words, transcribe, edit and polish them to create a book manuscript that is uniquely you. Interviews can be in person, on the phone or via a Zoom conference call. You will be interviewed by a professional journalist, experienced editor or book coach. This is by far the fastest way to create your book. We aim to maximize the content derived from each session, and we are looking at an estimated 5 sessions, of an hour each.

 

International Publishing

Turning your now-completed manuscript into a polished, high-quality paperback and electronic version. Our team of editors, graphic designers, proof-readers and layout artists will at this point prepare the manuscript to go to print. This process involves creating a ISBN entry to enable the book to be found and ordered internationally (book trade registration).

 

What is involved

We produce 3 versions of the book: A limited edition hardback, a standard trade paperback for international distribution, and e-book versions. If required, we also organise an audio book-version at an additional cost.

  • Promoting the title to the international book-trade, giving retailers advance notice of the book launch date.
  • We set up an international supply chain to ensure that orders from bookshops and individual customers will be fulfilled worldwide
  • The e-book version will be published over 80 distributors’ platforms including Amazon, Apple iBooks and Android platforms/ Google Books.
  • Your books will be featured throughout the book trade including Barnes & Noble, Waterstones, Foyles, Daunts, and all of the independent book shops linked to the ISBN database.
  • The paperback version will be promoted to the book buyers of all of the major chains and independent book shops including WH Smiths, who manage the airport book shops.
  • Books will also be supplied to the Author, at the author’s price (which equates at 30% of the cover price). This enables the author to make a retail profit on their own sales and desired platforms.
  • Sales through third-party retailers, who take a retail commission will generate a royalty of 10% of the cover price.
  • Book Launch PR – sending out press releases to the media and the book trade to promote the event.

 

Back Office Services / Speaker Support

We offer a special concierge service to support our clients wherever they are speaking or performing worldwide. This includes arranging for local delivery of book stock; arranging for promotional print or graphics; organising event staging; and being there at the end of the phone to help with unexpected challenges.

 

Event Staging

We have the capacity and resources to stage, film and live stream events worldwide. Recent locations include Sydney, Bucharest, Frankfurt, Barcelona, Zurich and Netherlands.

To do this we:

  • Take stock of your current visibility in the marketplace and what needs to happen to raise your profile to where it needs to be.
  • With the help of an author business coach, take stock of your IP and intellectual assets, and explore how they can be repurposed into books, courses, webinars, audio programmes, events, apps, or video product.
  • Get clarity on your marketplace, your niche and the routes to market that are open to you.
  • Create a business model and a marketing strategy.
  • Create a timeline and set milestones for each key stage.
  • Identify the experts you’d like to work with on your project team.

We offer a bespoke service to each of our clients, tailored to their specific needs and timeline. One size does not fit all.  Prior to commencement we always provide a non-disclosure agreement to protect the intellectual property of our clients.
